Silver Star Custer passed away on December 24, 2020 at his home in Wirt, MN.
Silver was born July 19, 1937 in Wirt, Minnesota to parents Eulah and George Custer at their home. He attended school in Bigfork, Minnesota. Just out of school Silver went to work on a dairy farm in Mora, MN. After a short time Silver returned home and was drafted into the United States Army from 1958- 1960 in Fort Riley, Kansas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. From there he went to Baubenhousin, Germany where he served for 18 months and was awarded the “Sharpshooter” medal. After returning home from the Army, Silver started work at Rajala Mill in Bigfork, MN as an edger. He retired from there after over 20 years of employment. Silver enjoyed a full retirement by traveling the United States from West to East. He loved to pick blueberries and could find them when none could be found! He also enjoyed picking wild rice and hunting. He never missed a shot!!
Silver was preceded in death by his parents, Eulah L. and George A. Custer, sister Geraldine Marovich and brother Chester I. Custer.
He is survived by sister Virginia B. Wass of Bigfork, brothers Tim H. Custer of Wirt and Robin D. Custer of Bigfork, five nephews and five nieces.
