Samuel D. Long

Samuel D. Long, age 82, of Deer River, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct 1, 2021

Sam was born July 20, 1939, in Bemidji MN to Douglas and Stella (Morris) Long.

Sam married Karen (Week) on May 29, 1971, and she was his devoted wife for 50+ years. Sam worked as a carpenter in his early years, then retired from Rajala Timber Co. He enjoyed the outdoors & camping and liked to build furniture. Sam was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and loved to spend time with family. He always knew how to make you laugh and his good-hearted, fun-loving personality will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his two children: DuWayne (Alanna) Long & Kristy (Travis) Moen; brothers: Donald (Judy) Long and Floyd Long; sisters: Lori (John) Lundberg and Joanne (Terry) Ayotte; grandchildren: Ashley (Jake) Bowers, Brady Long, Sarah Moen, and Ryan Moen; great-grandchildren: Brylee, Bristol & Kael Bowers and many extended family and friends.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arnold, Dale & Ivan Long; sisters: Mable Steel & Ruby Deleware He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

There will be no funeral per his request.
