Ronald Gene Stangland

Ronald Gene Stangland, 71, of Deer River, Minnesota went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2025 at Essentia Duluth, with family by his side.

Ron was born February 1, 1953 to Donald and Bernice Stangland in Deer River, MN. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1971. He moved back to Deer River with the family in 1975. He started working at Rajala Timber Co. in Deer River. Later he worked for Lake States Tree Service, Osmose, MDI Diversified Inc., and other jobs around the area. Ron enjoyed the outdoors. He belonged to the Spring Lake Horseshoe League for many years and pitched at many tournaments. Ron had a passion for fishing, especially ice fishing in the search for that elusive walleye.

Ron was a jokester, had a quick wit, and loved to laugh. He enjoyed a good game of spades with family members and friends. He also enjoyed the challenge of putting together puzzles and baking.

Ron is survived by his brother Mike (Pamela) Stangland of Bigfork, MN; Sister-in-law, Cindy Stangland of Stacy, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Stangland; mother, Bernice Stangland; and father, Donald Stangland.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
