Romaine Ellis Menard, 81, of Pengilly, MN. passed away on Sunday, July 10th, 2022 at his cabin on Crum Lake.
Romaine graduated from Keewatin High School in 1959. He attended St. Paul Bible College in Roseville, MN. for a year and completed the electrical maintenance program in Hibbing, MN. and became an electrician. Romaine worked for Hanna Mining and the National Pellet Company for 34 + years. After his retirement with the mining industry he went to the Hibbing-Eveleth Range Technical College for his refrigeration and appliance repair certification. He worked at Cedar Commons in Bloomington, MN performing building maintenance for a 140 unit complex. Romaine also had various other jobs throughout the years. He loved working at the Minnesota Discovery Center as a pioneer man and working for Midland which was located at the old Butler mining site.
Romaine loved the outdoors. As a teenager he worked on cars, spent time hunting, fishing, and wild rice harvesting with his dad and camping with his friends and cousins. He spent as much time as he could in the woods. In his later years, his favorite place was at the cabin also known as “the shack” on Crum Lake where he spent most of the summer. He had a sweet singing voice and enjoyed karaoke. Romaine also loved the Hymns and Sunday school bible camp songs he sang as a child.
Romaine leaves behind a large and loving family and many friends who will truly miss him. He is survived by his wife Donna, Sandra Menard (daughter), Scott Menard (son), sisters , Janice Harwick, Darlene Carlson, Eileen Gray, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and special friend Brent Doshan and Debbie Modich who gave him the most precious moments of life in his last few days here on earth.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert (1988) and Ruth (1998) Menard.
