Roland Francis Cartwright

Roland Francis Cartwright 80, of Deer River, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in   Grand Rapids, Minnesota.    Roland was born in Deer River, Minnesota on July 10, 1939 to Floyd and Lillian (Grossell) Cartwright.   He attended and graduated from Deer River Schools.  In 1961 Roland married Sharon Williams at the St. Joseph’s Church in Ball Club, MN.  Roland begin working as a fuel delivery driver in the Deer River area and later worked as a foreman for the Gibbs Wild Rice plant.  Along with working at the wild rice plant, Rollie drove school bus for the Deer River School District for many years.   Roland was a lifelong resident of the area and enjoyed hunting, fishing, his taxidermy, and volunteering at the food shelf.   He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Deer River.   He is Preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Lillian; Brothers Larry and Robert; granddaughter Jennifer.   Roland is survived by his spouse Sharon; children Gary (Brenda), Dale, Lisa (Nick) Stangler; grandchildren Nicole (Justin) Wendorff, Sarah Stangler, David Stangler; great grandchildren Kaylee, Maddie and Carley Wendorff; one sister Florence Gibbs.   A visitation for Roland will be held from 10:00 AM at the Carroll Funeral Home until the 11:00 AM funeral mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Deer River, MN.   Burial will be in Olivet Cemetery.   Arrangements are by Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River, MN
