John Dukhorn Obituary

John Andrew Dukhorn age 68 of Marcell, MN passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2021.

John was born April 09, 1952 in Dickinson, ND, the seventh of nine children born to John and Elizabeth (Riesinger) Dukhorn. John grew up in Winsted MN and graduated from Howard Lake High School. John served honorably in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. As an avid outdoorsman John loved boating, fishing, and waterfowl hunting. His Happiest time of year was when “The Guys” were Up North for hunting. John also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his fruit tree orchard. He was a craftsman of self-determination, and hard work. Upon moving to Marcell in 1985, he built his house on the lake using “his own two hands” without the benefit of electricity. John married Joy Almon Gruen January 29, 2011 in a snowstorm after knowing each other for fifteen years. Together, John and Joy lived in love and happiness at their home John built in Marcell and recently celebrated their tenth anniversary; he leaves behind along with Joy, their two beloved Cocker Spaniels Lucy and Roscoe. While he had no children of his own, John was the kind-hearted Grandpa every child deserves; generous with his time doting over the youngest and supporting the dreams of the oldest with unending love and pride. He will be missed and remembered well with fondness, respect, and love by all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Douglas Dukhorn, and Jeanette Bayerl.

He is survived by his true love wife Joy; brothers Danny Dukhorn, Bill (Cindy) Dukhorn, Dwight Dukhorn, all of Minnesota and Andy Dukhorn of Kentucky; Sisters Mena Dandurand, and Mari (Mike) Webinger, both of Minnesota; Two Stepsons: Brian (Sharie) Gruen of Georgia, and Adam Gruen of Michigan.
