Janet Ann Marie (Ojala) Mattsen

Janet Mattsen, 82, recently of Bovey, MN went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was born Janet Ann Marie Ojala on December 13th, 1941 to Walter and Ellen Ojala of New York Mills, MN. Janet graduated from New York Mills High School in 1959, after which she moved to Duluth where she attended Duluth Business University. She then moved on to the Twin Cities to start her career in clerical work. After living and working in the Twin Cities for about 10 years, she met the love of her life, Larry Mattsen in 1970. They married on July 22, 1972. Larry and Jan lived many places, had many adventures, and raised 2 boys. Through it all, they were best friends to the end.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ellen Ojala, sister Verna (Ojala) Bonham, brother Wesley Ojala, and Granddaughter Amarisse Marie Mattsen.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry of Bovey, MN, sons Jeremy Mattsen of Cedar Park, TX, Ben (Beth) Mattsen of Cohasset, and grandchildren Clive, Winston, and Milena.
