Jacob Starck Obituary

Jacob Jeffrey Starck (25) passed away in a car accident on Highway 46 in Deer River, Minnesota on January 7th, 2022. He was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin on December 11th, 1996, and is the first born son to Jeff and Laura Starck.

In Jacob’s early life, his family made Tamarack Lodge on Lake Winnie their new home and family business. The campers and lodge regulars quickly became extended family, and they had a profound impact on Jacob’s life. At the resort, Jacob learned how to have fun and work hard for what he wanted out of life. As a kid, he spent time with his siblings, Tyler and Madeline, sledding, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and engaging in regular tomfoolery, much to their parents' chagrin. While growing up, Jacob spent a lot of time helping his Dad with tasks around the resort and learning all the skills of the trade, from construction to mechanics to interacting with customers.

While school was not his favorite place to be, Jacob did well and made lots of friends and memories. He participated in football and golf, going to state five times over middle and high school for golf. After graduating from Deer River High School in 2015, Jacob continued to work at the resort and, eventually, Blueberry Bowl. He was always willing to help out others with work to make money to fuel his goals and aspirations. In 2018, Jacob committed to taking over the family business, as it was what he had always known he wanted to do. It was what felt right to him.

Jacob was known for his constant sarcasm, edgy humor, and giant heart he shared in his own unique way. He was a hard worker by day, and the life of the party at night, spending endless hours with friends and family. Despite his tight grip on his wallet, Jacob did enjoy traveling. He has taken trips to Jamaica with his family, gone to Hawaii with his brother and their friends, visited and golfed with his best friend in Alaska and Texas, gone to Mexico and the Dominican Republic with friends, and most recently, went skydiving with his girlfriend. From his beginning, Jacob has spent countless hours engaging with his passions: golfing, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, construction, and entertaining friends and family. He has left an undeniable impact on the lives of many that will not be forgotten.

Jacob is survived by his father Jeffrey Starck, his mother Laura Starck, his brother Tyler (Hunter) Starck, sisters Madeline Starck, Andrea Salas (Paul), Sarah Watson (Jason), his girlfriend Cattabrie Johnson, his aunts and uncles Carol Turner (Michael), Jason Turner (Nicole), Tina McCarthy (Brad), Tom McCarthy (June), Dale Beier (Debbie), Jay Christiansen (Jane), Sandy Starck, Jenny Starck, his nieces and nephews Cierra Starck, Cassandra Salas, Michael Salas, Gabriella Salas, Natalja Watson, Myleya Watson, Wesley Watson, and Dixie Starck, as well as many lifelong friends, family, campers, and customers.

Jacob is preceded by his grandparents Steven Turner, Diana Turner, Gordon Starck, and Ivadell Allbritton, and his aunt and uncles Michael Turner, Brad McCarthy, and Debbie Beier.
