George "Bud" Perkins Jr. Obituary

George Crocker Perkins Jr (Bud) age 95, of Squaw Lake, Mn, died Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Fargo VA Hospital.

George  "Bud", was born April 2, 1930 in Albany, NY. In September of 1950, George enlisted in the Army in Providence RI and was later sent to Augsburg, Germany to work in Explosive Ordinance Disposal during the Korean War. He served for 2 years and returned stateside in October of 1952. In 1990, Bud made his way to Squaw Lake, MN and resided there until he entered the VA facility in Bemidji, MN. While in Squaw Lake, he was self-employed and sub-contracted through Itasca County as an Appraiser.

Bud loved fishing, cross country skiing, gardening, and entertaining. He was an animated story teller and loved to tell and re-tell his stories to friends and family. He was as friendly and warm as they come and will be deeply missed by many.

Bud is survived by his life companion Yvonne Schimanski and his 3 sons, Keefe, George and Russell: 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; Dennis (Kristen) Schimanski along with their children Jake, Henry and Charlie; Kenneth (Barb) Sunell along with their children Karmela and Kegan and grandchildren Marco and Silas.

Bud was preceded in death by his father George C Perkins Sr, and his mother Emily M. (Lawler) Perkins, and 2 sisters.

Yvonne and family wish to thank all those who lovingly cared for Bud and supported the family through the last two years, including the staff at the VA in Bemidji, MN.

There will be no service at this time per Bud’s request. A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.
