Donald "Don" Ray Godfrey

Donald “Don” Ray Godfrey, 88 of Deer River, MN passed away at home in his sleep on December 18, 2023.

Don was born to Frank and Irene Godfrey in Boy River, MN on November 21, 1935. Don was the oldest of three children and had 15 foster sisters and brothers. Don married Carol Giehtbrock on December 14, 1960. They raised three children at their home in Deer River.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ione Sherman.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol “the love of my life”, and their three children Matt (Lisa) Godfrey, Sherri (Dave) Doree, Toni (Daniel) Springsteele, sister Darlene (Richard) Marquardt, and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Kevin and Lindsey Godfrey; Dan (Amber), Katie, and Andrew (Kelsey) Doree; and Emma Springsteele. Great-grandchildren Hailey, Dominick, and Arthur Doree and one Great-Grandson on the way.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
