In Loving Memory of Darwin “Jerry” Wilson Jr. ‘Makozid’
With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of our beloved ‘Jerry’ Darwin B. Wilson Jr. ‘Makozid’. He left this world on Friday, April 3rd, 2026 in Cass Lake MN, leaving behind a void that will never be filled. His departure has left us with a deep sense of loss and sadness.
Jerry was born on June 12, 1951 to Darwin Sr. & Norma Wilson in Cass Lake, MN. He grew up in the Ball Club, where he went to school in Deer River graduating in 1971, the same year his 1st daughter was born. From there he went into the army for some time and made his way back home. He met his wife Iolanthe (Goose) they made their home in Sugar Point on beautiful Leech Lake. Here 6 more children would soon be a part of the Wilson clan. He loved his family more than anything in this world. During his life, he worked for the Army Corps at the Federal Dam Site and with Rusty Lego until retirement. He lived a life dedicated to family, work and helping others. He loved the outdoors and fast cars always busy doing something different throughout the seasons. He has touched the lives of countless people with his kindness, wisdom and humor.
Jerry is survived by his children; Robbie Howe (Duane), Tonya, Carrie (Ron) Johnson, Rozelle, Elaina (Phillip), Jerrin (Jolene), Tyler (Jazz). Wife of many years – Iolanthe (Goose) Wilson. Brother, Darryl (Michelle) Wilson, and Sisters; Connie, Louann, and Gayle Wilson.
Grandchildren; Jimmy (Andrea), Josh (Tahnee), & Nicole (Cirilo) O’Shea, NaShel (Brendan) & Natalie Bebeau. Chyanne (Raymond), Ashley, & Veronica (Travis) Wilson. Dean, Kyla, Ron & Azalea. Monica (Andrew), Saqoyia, & Aaron Jr. Oothoudt. Jerrin Jr. and Jarvis Wilson. Aazh, Aleigha, Alice and Russell Wilson, Tori & Jason McMurrin. 20 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is greeted on the other side by his parents; Darwin & Norma Wilson, Brother Terry Wilson, Sister Carol Michaud and Grandson Sammy Wilson. Nephew Terrell Wilson, and Nieces Jolene Sweedman, Twila Wilson. Grandparents, Joseph & Dora Fairbanks and Maggie & George Wilson. Baby Grandson Thunder, his Mother & Father In-Law Caroline Monroe & Samuel Goose who he loved dearly, waiting for him on the other side.
Thank you, to his dialysis team and nursing home family for his care over the past few years.
Services will be held at The Lone Eagle Center in Ball Club starting with the wake on Thursday, April 9. 2026 @ 5:00 PM with the funeral service following Friday, April 10th, 2026 to be at 10:00 A.M. with the burial to follow at the Fairbanks Cemetery Hwy 46 N, of Deer River.
