Dale “Whity” Herr was born January 30, 1934, in Faribault, MN. He married Marlene Rosch and in that union he became stepfather to Tom, Cindy and Stanley. Dale and Marlene lived on Cedar Lake, outside of Faribault, until 1989. At that time, they moved to Bigfork, MN.
Whity was a veteran. He served in the US Navy from 1952-1956. He served on the USS Perry, the USS Ransom and the USS Arcadia.
Whity loved to hunt in his early years. He was an avid waterfowl hunter and enjoyed deer hunting, which he hosted at his place for several years. Dale enjoyed when family and friends would come and hunt. He would always have stories about the big hunt and the biggest fish. Whity’s passion was the bear hunt; not to hunt himself, but to bait and to see the excitement of the hunters as each told their story of harvesting a bear. He especially enjoyed the younger generation’s stories.
Dale was proceeded in death by his wife Marlene, mother Lilly Herr, brother Rick Herr, father-in-law Elmer Truman, mother-in-law Fern Truman Flom, stepfather-in-law Oscar Flom and stepson Thomas Rosch.
Whity is survived by Cindy (Loren) Millar of Wray, CO, Stan (Wanda) Rosch of Kingman, AZ, Sherry Rosch of Las Vegas, NV, seven grandchildren; Jennifer, Jamie and Janelle Rosch, Cody, Calie and Colin Millar, Logan Rosch, eight great grandchildren, brothers in law Le Roy Truman, Richard (Sherry) Truman, extended family members and many special friends.
