Corinne Ann Nason, age 69, of Ball Club, Minnesota, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Essentia Health Deer River, surrounded by her loving family.
Corinne was born on January 8, 1957, to Franklin Nason and Barbara Nason (Robinson) at IHS in Cass Lake, Minnesota. She graduated from Deer River High School and went on to attend college in Duluth.
Corinne began her career as a tutor at Deer River School and later worked 10 years at Leech Lake Tribal College. She then dedicated over 23 years of her career as a medical coder at IHS in Cass Lake. Corinne was also an exceptional athlete who enjoyed boxing and was known for her strength and competitiveness in both softball and basketball-able to hold her own against anyone.
Corinne loved supporting her son and grandchildren in sports. No matter the distance, she made it a priority to attend their games and cheer them on. She was a woman of few words, but when she spoke, her words carried meaning and left a lasting impact.
Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Nason Sr. and Barbara Nason (Robinson); her siblings, Eric Nason, Gary Nason, Baby Girl Nason, Franklin Nason Jr., and Fred Nason; her niece, Nicole Nason; her nephew, Jamie Nason, and her aunts and uncles.
She is survived by the love of her life of 30 years, Sherwin Obey; her son, Derek Nason (Rockelle), (mother of her oldest grandchildren, Samara Lohnes) her grandchildren, Nevaeh "Biggers" Nason (Brendan), Derek "Sonny" Nason and his son, Keeston Graves, Isabella "Dolly" Nason, Anton "Manny" Nason; Damon Nason, Derelle Nason, and Davin Nason; aunts, Kathy Sheffield, Sandy Charwood, and Pat Long; her uncle, Simon Garbow Sr.; siblings, Frances Nason, Linda Nason, Lisa Nason and Craig Nason; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Kristofor (Natasha), Kim, Ross, Angie, Gary, Frank, Taylor, Eric, Cori, and ShawnTae.
Pallbearers will be Derek Nason Sr., Derek Nason Jr., Anton Nason, Ross Nason, Kristofer Cloud, Eric Bruers. Honorary Pallbearers will be family and long time friends.
A wake will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 4:00 PM at the Ball Club Community Center. Funeral services will follow on Friday, April 24, at 10:00 AM, also at the Ball Club Community Center.
