Carol graduated from Deer River Highschool in 1980 and attended college at ICC and UMD, graduating with a degree in accounting. She loved working summers with her dad at Great Lakes Gas in Deer River. She also worked for Century Circuits, Gustilo-Kyle Orthopedics, and in the most recent years, she worked for Twin Cities Orthopedics as a medical records coordinator then moved to Revo Health doing the same work. Many of her coworkers became very close friends over the years. While Carol loved her work, she will be remembered by family and friends for her kindness and unwavering spirit despite fighting many medical battles. She was loved by many and preferred to spend her time around family and friends. Her kids were her dog, Daisy, and her cats, Hattie, and Josie. She liked to fish and spend time in the woods. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and being around her cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She will be missed at family gatherings at the barn! Cousin Bruce said it well when he said, “I can only hope I can go through difficult situations in my life with even a little of the style and grace Carol has taught all who know her. Her and Doug can join the sisters in their antics, knowing she is the Coolest Cousin.”
