Burton Martin Obituary
Burton Martin of Talmoon, Minnesota passed on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the age of 91 at Essentia Hospital in Deer River.
Burt was born in Oak Valley, Minnesota on March 30, 1933. His parents were Goldie and Cecil Martin of Bigfork, Minnesota.
Burt was a very kind loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa.
Burt had a special love for babies, his horses, dogs and Bread!
Burt served in the Army, he was stationed at Camp Chaffe, Arkansas in October 1953. On December 23, 1953, he left for Fort Lewis, Washington, he was there for 3 weeks and then shipped out to At Yokohama, Japan for 5 days then on to Korea for 16 months as a cook.
Burt worked in construction, in later years he started Martin Septic Service building many driveways and putting in many septic tanks over the years.
Burt is survived by daughters Susan Schmidt of Rochester, Jane Brenden (Milo) Talmoon, Lori Brink (Dick) Deer River, John Martin (Jodi) Talmoon, Jeff Martin (Kim) Spring Lake.
Burt and Jean have 13 grands, 23 great grands, 9 great-great children.

Jean Elenora Hagen, born June 1,1930 in Byron, Minnesota to Wilma (Bailey) and Otis Hagen.
Jean married Burt on December 22, 1953, in Deer River Arena, Burt was shipped out the next day.
Burt and Jean were married for 66 years.
Jean passed away on January 6, 2019, in Bigfork nursing home.
Preceded by her mother, father and stepfather, brother Robert of Oregon, sisters, Donna of Rochester.
In early years Jean drove school bus for 317. She also planted trees for the forestry. Jean & Burt took pride helping with church functions at Jessie Lake Lutheran Church. Jean also helped with elections in Jessie Lake Township.
Jean was a fantastic baker and had a green thumb with plants.
