Anita Wolfe passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Autumn Lane Assisted Living facility in Cohasset.
Anita was born on July 31, 1938, in Worland, Wyoming, to Lois and Marvin Maurer. She graduated from Washakie County High School in Worland in 1957 and married Thomas Howard shortly after. They moved to California and raised their children there. After their divorce, she moved with her children to Billings, Montana.
She worked in various administrative jobs in Billings but eventually pursued her long-held dream of becoming a nurse. Anita graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at the age of 50 and worked on the Oncology ward of Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings, as well as several private duty nursing jobs.
In 2004, she moved to Minnesota to be closer to several of her grandchildren and her two sons. She remained there until her death.
Anita expressed her creative talents as an artist, cake decorator and home decorator. She loved reading her Bible and singing as well. She was known for her compassionate nature and her intrinsic ability to help others, often putting others’ needs above her own. She was a devoted servant to those in need, always looking for ways to support and uplift others.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Lee Maurer and sister Roberta Wilder, an infant daughter Kara Howard and son Darren Howard.
She is survived by her brother, Rick (Robin) Maurer, her brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilder, her sister-in-law, Marlene Maurer, her children, Thomas (Cheri) Howard, David Howard, and Erika (Shane) Bancroft, and her grandchildren: Ryan (Kim) Howard, Tyler (Vawny Kaye) Howard, Aaron (Erica) Howard, Bethany (Dillon) Blackburn, Kaleb (Skye) Egger, Kierra Egger, Anjaela Howard and Dasha Howard, and 12 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Autumn Lane Assisted Living Facility for their loving care and support during Anita’s time in their care.
