Anita Elizabeth (Flaagan) Dederick 5/3/1942 of Deer River, MN peacefully passed away at Autumn Lane on December 26, 2023.
She was born in Fargo, North Dakota where she graduated from high school and attended college where she majored in English, minored in French, and Psychology. She spent several years working at Minister’s Life & Casualty in the Twin Cities metro area, where she became the head of the personnel department. This is where she met Jerry or otherwise as she often affectionately referred to as her “Jer-Bear,” her future husband of 50 years, as he was the head of the legal department. Once leaving her position at Minister’s Life, she was instrumental in assisting Jerry with his private law practice. They later returned to Deer Lake for semi-retirement. Anita was a very generous, thoughtful, kind person known for assisting her friends/family in their time of need. She also knew her way around the kitchen, often hosting large dinner parties, was an avid bridge player, and loved animals with a special fondness for cats.
Anita was preceded in death by parents Edna Lucille Flaagan and Gilman Stuart Flaagan, and spouse Gerald George Dederick.
She is survived by her sister Maureen Flaagan and brother Martin Flaagan.
A special thank you to St. Croix Hospice and especially Autumn Lane Assisted Living for the high quality and compassionate care that was provided. Anita was loved by many; she will be dearly missed.
