After a long courageous battle with cancer, a true fighter, Andrew Joel Schaaf age 46 of Ball Club, Minnesota passed on Thursday February 13th, 2025, at Essentia Health Deer River, Minnesota. Andrew was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 17th, 1978, a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved three sons he cherished every day of their lives, Sequoia 15, Jayce 13, and Bryson 6. Andrew also leaves behind his mother Jeannie Schaaf, father Frank Schaaf, sisters Amber (Maynard)Schaaf, Betty Jane Schaaf, nephews Derek, Mayson, Daniel, Ambrose, Arnold, niece Ericka, special friends Leon, Angelo and Butch. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his grandmother Susan Schaaf, grandfather Ambrose Schaaf, grandmother Barb Patnode, grandfather LaVerne, sister Brenda Schaaf, brother Troy Goodmen, many aunts and uncles and cousins.
The family has chosen to not have a visitation but instead will be having a celebration of life on Sunday, February 23rd 1:00pm-4pm at Vets Club, 12 1st Street NE, Deer River, Mn.
Andrew was smart with a good work ethic at work as well as home. Determined, he went into the US Navy and he also obtained his bachelor’s degree in business management but choose a different path. With his love of carpentry and being self-taught at many things and good at anything he did, Andrew worked many jobs in his life but was working for Hawk Construction at the time of his diagnosis.
Andrew, a dedicated single father to his three boys he loved so much. His priority was spending time with his family enjoying outdoor adventures such as going to the beach, fishing & boating. He frequently took trips with his boys to Timberwolves, Vikings and Gopher games. Andrew took pride in his cars and loved fixing them up and maintaining them and liked attending car shows. Andrew was an amazing cook and loved taking over the kitchen trying new recipes and cooking for family gatherings. Through all the hospital trips, surgeries and treatments Andrew was able to keep his incredible sense of humor to the end.
