Obituary
Alvin LeRoy Janus passed away after several years of declining health on Monday January 9th 2023 at the age of 84. Al was born on April 29, 1938 in Hibbing Minnesota. He served four years in the US Air Force as an Aviation Mechanic while stationed in Duluth, MN . He was also on the Airforce Sea Rescue Team where he learned his love for SCUBA.
Alvin married Catherine Frances Kassa on August 22, 1964. They made their home in Stacy, MN where they raised four children, Stephen, Lori, Scott and Terri. He coached hockey, showed horses, enjoyed fishing, hunting and scuba diving. Al worked for 36 years as a Hydraulic Engineer with Dana Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. After retiring in 1999, Al and Cathy moved to their lake home on Clubhouse Lake near Marcell MN.
Al is preceded in death by his father Frank Janus and mother Agnes Tanko Janus.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Janus, sons Stephen and Scott Janus, daughters Lori Janus Vrolson and Terri Janus along with eight grandchildren Bradley Janus, Brian Janus, Parker Vrolson, Collin Vrolson, Davis Vrolson, Turner Janus, Nolan Janus, Adaleigh Janus and cousin Gerald Marinucci.
Memorial Visitation and Service will be held at Our Lady of the Snow in Bigfork MN on Friday, February 3, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation to St. Jude.
