Maxwell Villeneuve Obituary

 

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Maxwell Joseph Villeneuve,77, of Deer River will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at St. Joseph's Mission Church, Ball Club, MN. Max passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Grand Rapids Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Carroll Funeral Home in Deer River with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m.

Max was born at home on February 23, 1942 to Joseph and Gertrude (Rafinski) Villeneuve. He graduated from Deer River HIgh School in 1960 and obtained his meat cutter certification from Pennsylvania State University. He married Lavonne E. Evans on January 11, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Deer River. Max was a lifelong resident of Deer River who was employed at Blandin Paper Company for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He also owned and operated a family farm and butcher shop. Max was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's in Ball Club. Max enjoyed farming, spending time at the coffee shop and ricing. He will be remembered for his deep faith and devotion to God, hard work ethic and love of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lavonne; mother, Gertrude of Deer River; sons, David (Jodi), Greg (Liz), Dean (Anna), Matt (Trish), Dan (Rose), Nic (Ashley) all of Deer River; daughters, Theresa Villeneuve of Sartell, Lisa (Ken) Yurrick of Grand Rapids, Maria (Ryan) Voigt of St. Augusta, Monica (Joe) Swanson of Sauk Rapids, Veronica Villeneuve of Sartell; grandchildren, Anthony, Tyler, Caleb (Raylene), Maxwell, David, Michael (Kelly), Jessica (Tyler) Erzar , Jake, Miranda (Thomas) Schultz, Katie, Sheana (Steve) Hanson, Sophia, Dean, Jacque, Dylan, Olivia, Annika, Anna, Spencer, Hannah, Alex (Aubree), Hunter, Angelina, Juliette, Frank, Marissa, Zach, Isaac, James, Maylah, Hank, Enoch, Kateri, Naomi, Cyrus; many great grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Oihus of Garrison, Gloria (Ed) Deutschmann of Lake Elmo; Joan (Jeff) Herfindahl and Joe Villeneuve both of Deer River; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. .

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph in 1973; grandson, Vincent Villeneuve; great granddaughter, Brin Villeneuve; brother, Tony; and sister, Shirley Gardner. A heartfelt thank you to all those who have provided care and prayers; especially Juliette and Rose. Heaven watch out "Here comes Max!"
