Lyle LeRoy Thompson died Wednesday, July 24, 2019. He was born on December 19, 1928 to Howard and Marybelle (Peck) Thompson. Lyle was raised on a farm in Deer River, Minnesota along with his seven siblings. Lyle enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from Feb. 1947 to Aug. 1948, reenlisting to serve again from Oct. 1949 to May 1953. In July of 1953 Lyle married Darlene Storlie and shortly after they started their family. Lyle pursued a successful career in Mining and Logging. Lyle’s hobbies included hunting, spearing, car rides looking for deer, watching his grand children play sports (very seldom missing a game), woodworking, and he especially enjoyed logging with his sons and grandsons throughout the years. He also enjoyed spending a couple summers in Alaska mining for gold with his brother Harlow.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darline, son, Rick Thompson; son-in-law Dave Erickson; great granddaughters; Shelbie Gullickson and Halleigh Holmes. Sister-in-laws, Vivian Thompson, Irma Thompson and SharonThompson. Brother-in-laws, Jack Weigelt, Lew Arver, Eugene Storlie and Bob Stangland.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, Sheri Erickson; son Jim (Cheryl) Thompson; daughter, Lori (Dennis) Hron; daughter, Tina (Tom) Gullickson; 13 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. Brothers; Harlow, Lavern, Howard and Rodney. Sisters; Helen Arver, Lorraine Storlie and Sylvia Stangland.
