Leonard Claire Elyea was born January 27, 1950 in Monticello, MN. In 1965 he moved with his parents and family to Malmo, MN. Lenny graduated from Isle High School in 1968. Following graduation he worked one year for Ewing Farms in Big Lake, MN. He then worked at Palmers John Deere dealership in Brainerd, MN until he was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years in Korea. Following his military service he attended Vocational school in Staples, MN for operating heavy equipment. Following his schooling he worked with a John dealership in Mankato, MN. While living in the Mankato area he met his future wife Sharon and they were married in Malmo, MN in 1976. They resided in Ball Club, MN later moving to Remer, MN. While living in Remer, he worked for various townships in the area and also for the DNR maintaining roads and operating heavy equipment.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon in 2017, and by his parents, Stanley and Caroline Elyea and a niece Darcy Elyea. Lenny is survived by his son David of Remer, MN, brothers Dennis (Delores) of Isle, MN, Roy of Bemidji, MN, Lyle of Isle, MN, and one sister Judith (Jim Ewing) of Big Lake, MN. Lenny is also survived by three nephews Douglas Elyea, Peter Ewing, Willie Ewing and one niece Stacy Ewing Libsock.
